Psychologist Insa Feinkohl has been appointed professor of epidemiology at the Faculty of Health Sciences Brandenburg (FGW) as of 1st October 2025.

Psychologist Insa Feinkohl has been appointed professor of epidemiology at the Brandenburg Faculty of Health Sciences (FGW) as of 1st October 2025. Her work focuses on cognitive and mental health, particularly in old age and after surgery.

Regarding her move to the University of Potsdam, Prof. Insa Feinkohl says: “I am very excited to become part of the diverse research world at the FGW. My work focuses primarily on cognitive function in adulthood as a risk factor for poorer health outcomes later in life. I also investigate lifestyle risk factors such as obesity in the prognosis of cognitive and mental health in older people. The aim is to identify possible preventive measures for both individuals/their caregivers and the public health system.”

With the appointment of the professor of epidemiology at the University of Potsdam, only the professorship for bioanalytics remains to be filled in order to complete the faculty of health sciences in Brandenburg. Prof. Insa Feinkohl is the first woman to take up a professorship at the faculty in Potsdam and the fourth female professor at the faculty overall. Her appointment ideally complements both the teaching in the Master’s program in Public Health, Exercise and Nutrition (PEN) with a central subject and the research orientation of the professorships in Potsdam.
